It's almost cynical, but I feel like there is so much dirt on everyone out there, that i don't really idolize anyone. I mostly admire people that have the b*lls to do what they want without worrying about what the world will say.

I like your attitude SalesLady. And you're right...its dumb to idealize anyone because everyone is human. Most people we would call role models (MLK, Gandhi) were the one's who didn't care what was popular and stood for what they felt was right. However most of today's "role models" haven't done jack, like the American Idols, and all they do is care what people think.

I do too. I admire Charles Barkley for saying what he believed - that athletes shouldn't be role models.

I could never understand the term of role model with atheletes, actors, actresses.I however do beleive it is the media who get the credit for makin people beleive famous people are role models.

Role models should be  the parents, wife ,husband people who make a difference in your life.

Playing basketball you can wish you were like Mike the same with any sport and the respective athelete,on stage you can wish you had the stage presence that our greatest actors have had. There is  huge difference  between  when another  ie the media sets the mantle of role model on them.

I am here to learn and help others in search of information. With everyone having a common goal we should be able to help one another grow in our professional and personal lives.

Hi Rich! It's me again, and this time, I completely agree with you. My father left us when we were very young so it was just my mother. That woman 'put on the pants' in the house and without the help of a man, made us what we are today ,( my broyhers and sisters and myself) on very meager resources. Until I die, in my eyes, there is no one I idolize more, especially because, even today, she continues to be the driving force behind some of my greatest accomplishments.

What's weird these days....  If someone didn't have a role model?... If a person did not have a role model, I would have to think subconsiously they did... because something had to brain wash into his/her shell though out the life experience and that would drive a force reaction of some sort.  May the force be with you.  Just kidding.  Had to say it.
