I should shop at Ross because I'm broke from being unemployed, but I have a weakness for BCBG. There are outlets and deals on Ebay.

Banana Republic has great suits for women that aren't too expensive, but also aren't too cheap. They last a long time and the cuts there are very flattering.

I am a firm believer in blending high quality with cheap. I think its worth it to to invest in high quality suits, but blend with cheaper blouses, shirts, and accessories. I can totally spot a cheap suit, so your sophisticated clients will too. I usually find deals on Tahari suits at the Nordstrom Rack. I think Tahari has suits that are classy and attractive without being provocative, like some womens suits can be (ie. Bebe). I also think that the fit of your suit is critical and a lot of young reps I see wear suits that are 2 sizes too small....its not cute.

There are two ways to go for women's suits. H&M (if you live on the east coast or in the bay area) is always a good options for well made, quality, relatively inexpensive clothing. If you want to go a more expensive route, Theory suits are really high quality, with a price tag to match. I also agree with Jill, Banana Republic has some great suiting.

What are people's thoughts about interviewing? Do you have to wear a suit or does a blazer and pant/skirt combo suffice?

What are the thoughts about ladies suits: go with the skirt or pants?

I love Tahari, too, Sellerina! Calvin Klein has some gorgeous ones.

Remember that if you see a pants suit on sale and it is a little too big, it is TOTALLY worth it to spend a bit more to get it tailored perfectly. It will fit like a glove and will still be cheaper than one you would buy full price.

I'd say buy a suit that is flattering to your body type at any store you find one..Some Jewls...cute shoes...purse if you need one..don't over do it.

I would recommend a blue or gray suit with a not so bright clean cut blouse.  Either a skirt to just above the knee or dress pants to match.

Shoes with about a 2" heel at most. Jewelry, no more than two rings per hand and ONE pair of ear rings.  No facial rings etc.

Natural makeup (so they just don't notice the blue eye shadow). Keep it simple.  You don't want to be too conservative and you don't want to look overdone.

And as for the purse, no flashy stuff, keep it clean and simple (unless your applying for a fashion job or position in the fashion industry).

If you look polished, that's where you want to be.
