I just started working for a Home Renovations Company and I'm wondering if anyone has any prospecting tips. The current method the company uses is to canvas the neighborhood where they are working a job.

Besides the above, I was thing of calling past clients with a customer satisfaction survey and working the satisified customers for referrals.  Any thoughts.

Hoping you are all having a great day

Referrals are ALWAYS better than just a knock on the door.  Do you know any good contractors, landscape architects, anybody who is working in the same general field?  Get to know them and refer clients to them.  Then, they'll start referring people to you.

Another idea is to join a business networking group in your area.  You can get to know people from all kinds of different professions and they can refer people to you also.  NETWORKING!!!! its the way to go.  :)   ummmm i know there's an international group, if i think of it i'll post here again.

Have a great weekend!

You need to call both satisfied and unsatisfied clients.

The reason   satisfied clients will give you referrals. The unsatisfied  will let you know what you need to work on.It will also allow you to find the value and differences between your competetion and yourself. Strong points on your presentation.

With your home renovations do you employ or sub out the work? If you sub out the work ,speak to the managers of those companies to see what can be done to increase your availability with  them. Find out why the enjoy working with you.Strong ties to the subs will increase your job searches.

Marketing strengths of your company? Increase advertising.

I would love to soak in as much information as possible from this site.Others experiences will be insightfulSee where I can tweak my presentations, answers to objections.

Thanks for the tip. . My first thought was "Satisfied" (the path or least resistance :>) ) Unsatisfied makes good sense. We have both employees and subs.

Have a great weekend!

Thank you very much. Your post gave me a great idea. One of my business partners also sells Real Estate, when I mentioned your post he gave me the name of a Home Inspector who was only to glad to refer me. I also contacted a friend of mine who is a landscape contractor. Excellent ideas and once again thank you very much.

Hope your weekend is going great.
