Posted 3 months ago Today cracked me up ,I laughed until I had tears rolling down my cheeks. I am speaking to a woman in her late twentys. She is complaining that she lost her job and cannot find a job.She works in the service world dealing with walk in trade. I looked at her orange ,blue ,red hair with a piercing in the nose and lip and on her tongue and a nice colorful tattoo on her leg and arm and wondered why owners or managers would not hire her. I suggessted she try telemarketing.

| Posted 3 months ago Oh man thats funny! Good suggestion! You seriously limit your employability to be that cool
All in the name of coolness I guess!
I personally couldn't make out with someone with a lip piercing. |

| Posted 3 months ago I think it depends on what job function she is doing, what town, type of clientele, etc. It used to be that having a "professional" appearance meant dressing and having your hair a particular way. I just don't think that is totally true anymore.

| Posted 3 months ago Appearance definitely conrols what you can or cannot do when dealing with sales.Open minded people may not care what someone looks like but wheh it comes to money that they may soon part with appearance will ultimately win out.Buying a car do you go to the salesperson who is in a tshirt and jeans or the one who is dressed nicely? Saying the above I walked into a BMWdealer with a friend who just sold a bar for 4 mil.He looked horrible.Jeans with holes, ragged shirt unpressed tennis shoes. We walked in the showroom, looked around and no one came to us. A nice couple dressed real nice came in and 3 sales people came running ot them, only to find out they had no credit. Once the sales people came over to us and my firend was asked how he intended on paying for said vehicle ,he said cash is that ok?However you will not sell it to us.We went to another dealer. Morale of the story . Your client can look horrible,do not prejudge. You as the sales person must look professional at all times. |

| Posted 3 months ago Car Dealership are great places to learn what NOT TO DO.....While working, I always wear a suit / usually cuff links, shined dress shoes. For work, I drive a car that is nice but not to flashy, but is always clean. At home, I am a jeans and T-SHIRT person....But I am home...

| Posted 3 months ago Personally tatoos don't bother me as much as a lack of hygiene. There are hippies and then there are dirty crunchy hippies. |

| Posted 3 months ago That is priceless. I have never heard the term "Dirty, Crunchy Hippies" before. I agree that a "Hippie" can pull it off sometimes (you know the type: Birkenstocks, designer T, and kackie shorts. But, lately I have been bumping into alot more people who think bathing is optional. I saw a woman get out of a Lexus SUV walk by me and my eyes started watering while I scrambled to find untainted air! |

| Posted 3 months ago having an up-to-date neat professional appearance doesn't hurt. I normally dress office casual unless I've got a particular appointment that needs me all dolled up. Then I always want to look good. Just Kidding. Dress for who your meeting with. |

| Posted 2 months ago Also, unless you are really smart and impressive, good-looking people def get hired and make more sales than ugly people. |
