I'm in a bit of a tricky situation. Has anyone ever had a relationship with one of their co-workers or clients? I'm not sure what to do. I've been dating one of my co-workers for a couple of weeks now, but we haven't told anyone. any suggestions?

I had an office romance one time. We went to a work party and she was the worst dancer in the history of the world. That was when I knew it was totally over. I ended up avoiding the woman for weeks. It was totally uncomfortable. Looking back on it, I would say be open and honest with yourself and what you want. If you want to be with her, tell your co-workers. If you don't, tell her.

You are so shallow power broker. The bad dancing was the deal breaker????!!!! I do agree with your advice though. However, I will say that if you decide to stay with her make sure to be discreet or your coworkers will talk mad schmack about your PDA.

Yes, the bad dancing was the breaker. Actually, it might have not been that bad if she wasn't coming by my office every three minutes to make me feel crowded. AmericanMan - make sure she can dance, man.

I know all too well about this topic. My coworker got me pregnant last summer after an office happy hour turned happy 12 hours. Beware of the alcohol if you are dating because you may be more likely to get overly affectionate with this person in front of others. Which at a work function (even happy hour) is very inappropriate.

I'm really enjoying this conversation...American Man, haven't heard from you in while. Has any of this advice been helpful?

Back after popular demand. Here I am. So this is just getting trickier and trickier and stickier and stickier. We made out in the men's room in our building. The adrenaline was pumping and I have to say it was a lot of fun, but really really stupid. I don't know what to do. Usually I'm totally decisive, but this is really driving me nutty because it's just so much fun and such a rush and I need more of that in my life.

AmericanMan, I think you should test the waters in a context which is completely not-work-related. Take her to the park, or to a farmer's market. Do your best to focus on other things, and not talk about work.

If you can establish a working relationship outside of work, you'll have a much better chance of avoiding the inner-office drams.

That was good advice. Take her on a date and see if you guys can connect outside of the mens room.

Made out in the conference room. I've always wanted to do that and I couldn't help it. it was HOT! I feel kind of scummy, but it was so much fun and my heart was racing like a greyhound. Good idea I will take her on a date - to the bathroom. J/k. I think i will.

Didn't you already take her to the bathroom? Maybe try the women's room next time, just to switch it up a little bit.

Definitively don't take her to a farmer's market.

Be careful in the restroom. I got a scar on my thigh from getting sliced on the TP dispenser during some "fun".

hahaha. I got in trouble one time in the bathroom, too. However, it was not at work. In fact, it was at my sister's Bat Mitzvah. I was at second base in the restroom of the hotel and everyone was looking for me to throw up on the chair during Hava Nagila. Finally my uncle found me and my ex in the stall. I tried to clean everything up, but I came out after five minutes of everyone searching for me with my shirt all wrinkled and a very loose tie. I was like "Let's rejoice and be happy, baby!"

I was fired once for an office hookup, I wasn't feelin the company and they felt likewise, so getting caught with my office hottie really pushed things over the edge.
The Friday night before my departure, after everyone had left for the bar, we were foolin around on the CEO's sofa. Just as things started to get hot, the CEO walks in with one of the VPs

"So Derek, is he in or is he out?..."

Lights on... Hottie shrieks.

Soooo worth it.

Fooling around on the CEO's sofa sounds amazing! Way better than the bathroom where you can get sliced open by all the dangerous soaps and paper towels and various items. Do you know, did the hottie get fired?

I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who does this kind of thing. I'll keep you all posted. It's been really helpful for me to hear more stories and I've gotten some good advice. Except for the farmer's market thing!

Hottie did not get fired. Of course.

I made sure of that.

Actually were married now with two kids.

As I said. Soooo worth it.
