Moving forward after a slow winter sales season seems difficult considering the state of our economy, but it is not impossible. Applying a few old time tricks to your current sales tactics should spur your numbers to soar.

Start off by using crazy catch phrases, product specific key words, and more creative usage of the word "Sale". Use headlines in your ads like: Inventory Reduction Sale, Fire Sale, or The Boss went crazy and slashed all the prices sale, whatever the wording you choose will help draw your clients back and will bring in new customers.

It all really comes down to the smile factor; the commercials we all remember the most are the ones that make us laugh. This brings a warm feeling that the company we're seeing is welcoming us to do business with them rather than telling us to do so. Laughter brought on by several well know comedians helped bring us up after the 9/11 crisis, so why not use it in these "hard" times as well? Put a smile on a customer and they are sure to return, put a frown on one and they're sure to tell everyone around them not to shop with you.
So put on a smile, spice up your ads and sales tactics and get ready for a great 2008!

Thats great advice! Heres a smile for you! :)

My industry (pharma) will not be too affected by the economic slowdown. But it is always competitive and creativity is really important since doctors have been wined and dined before. When it comes down to it....it really is always about relationships, and the secret is not "trying too hard" to sell to people....just be interested in them and enjoy their company.

Great advice, I am selling cars and can attest to the concerns my customers have about the economy.
