Eesh...it would be hard for me to muster the discipline.  I think you have to really have a good ability to structure your time and minimize the distractions that come from being at home.   But many many people do it everyday successfully!  Good luck!

I've tried it before and it just didn't work for me.  Unless you are really about to compartmentalize well and block out personal things that come up there is such a tendency to be distracted to deal with personal issues.

I would suggest to any supervisors who think that it might work for someone to try it out for a day a week for starters and see how it goes with productivity, etc.  If it shows it is more productive, go for it but keep it closely monitored since it has the possibility to be abused and misused.

I become bored and complacent when working from home. I love being able to spend roughly two hours a night in the office and that is fine.I usually am in the office at 5:30 in the morning and done by 6;30 to start my day writting goals for the day and things that happened yesterday or to write articles.

I am not sure that is something I would want to do day in and day out, work from home.I like naps no I love naps and I would find out that the afternoon nap during the weekday may become addictive.ps My naps are power naps two to three hours, my kids can take a twenty minute nap and be refreshed.I wish I could do that.

I am here to learn and help others in search of information. With everyone having a common goal we should be able to help one another grow in our professional and personal lives.

Win, give it a try if you have the flexibility to experiement.  It sounds like it will require some discipline.  It will really have to feel like "going to the office"  where other household responsibilities won't distract you.  I remember when I was in school I couldn't get any work done in my room...I would have to go to a cafe or a library...for me that was going to the office.

you know what I might do if I get a job where I have to work from a home office...I might set an office over at my mom's pretty much empty  house...she's the only one there..and who knows, maybe I can teach her to answer the phone...give her something to do.  Try that...and then I can feel like I'm going somewhere....  that was just an idea I had today.

I have a 3 offices in the Pgh Region, My favorite one being my home office....The key to it is, you...

I don't use a regualr telephone - just my cell, and most importantly I close the door......The hard part is my toddler who knows that Daddy needs to work, but wants to be my helper...I give her little jobs to do.....Yes there are a ton of distractions, and I might use it a few times a week for short amount of times...But it is nice to work in and communicate in customers in shorts and a T-Shirt; rather than sitting at a desk with a suit and tie on in between appointments.

ON the other hand, - I am being heavily recurited by a company for a position that would only be home office or travel and I am not sure how I feel about that......I think if I didn't have somewhere else to go - I may be in trouble...A coffee shop is only comfortable for so long......
